Andrew Pigott from Sheffield
Andrew was devastated when doctors told him that he would have to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, after a routine operation went wrong a prolapsed disk went wrong. Andrew was left paralysed from the waist down after the nerves in his spinal cord were damaged.
However Andrew’s life completely turned around after an intensive physiotherapy session. His physiotherapist advised him to join Fitness First Sheffield Hillsborough. Personal trainer Katie Ford formulated an exercise programme to help him regain his strength and after just one month he was able to walk on crutches, defying doctors belief.
After two months Andrew was able cycle, and after four months he was able to walk and run for a short distance without the use of crutches. Now, after a phenomenal recovery, Andrew can run for 25 minutes without the aid of crutches.
Paul Ridley from Romford
Paul was left devastated after a car accident left him housebound, and as a result his weight soared to 25 stone. Paul was almost certain that he would never be able to walk again until his physiotherapist suggested that he join his local gym.
After joining Fitness First in Romford, Personal Trainer Frankie Neale formulated an exercise regime to help improve his mobility, and after a gruelling 6 months hard work he can now walk without the aid of a walking stick. His previous waist size was 46 and is now a size 38.
Carole Osborne from Sheffield
Carole had been suffering from depression after battling with an adrenal mass tumour, Hypotension, Hypokalemia, Sinus Tadycardia, a bleeding bowel, and serious neck and back injuries after a 35kg metal pole fell on her at work.
The turning point in Carole’s life was when she was picked as a finalist for the Fitness First New You Achievement Awards and she has been training hard with the help of personal trainer Matt Wright to help regain her fitness. Carole is no longer depressed, leads a more active life and has already dropped two dress sizes and lost a stone.
